With a grin the old man pointed toward his head and spoke. “Soon I will be gone and everything up here will pass on into the everlasting, omniscient Silence. In Silence there will be no fear nor want. No pain nor tears. Ego cannot exist within it. It knows and is. Silence is your oldest friend waiting for you to remember and return. Before you were, you knew Silence. Now that you are, you have forgotten and must reacquaint. Then, like me, you won’t be because it is whole and enough. In time this will make sense. For now though, as thunder and rain crash about you, look into the furthest depths of yourself and listen. There you will hear Silence and begin to understand.”
